one of my biggest pet peeves are those radio commercials for upcoming movies. they must automatically assume people have seen the movie’s previews on the television because just listening to the radio advertisement is confusing as hell. i hear stupid one-liners and have no stupid faces to match them with. these are often followed by strange sounds which i have to imagine are people colliding or buildings collapsing or someone slipping on a banana peel. they make absolutely no sense to me since i almost never see the original television preview.
while i’m on the movie subject, i wonder how much money that movie-voice guy makes. you know who i’m talking about: that guy who has the voice-over for the entire commerical saying things like “they came from two different worlds” or “the scariest thrill ride of the year” or “the los angeles times says ‘hilariously funny’.” that voice making those random comments has always intrigued me. who is that man behind the advertisement? i wonder if it has just been the same man over and over again in every commercial, now old and eccentric and covered in vaseline. he probably records the commercial scripts that the producers send him with a tiger talk-boy while sitting on the toilet. you know, for the acoustics.
