reading katie’s post about the redneck with the mannequin fingering left-wing liberals made me realize (once again) how ignorant most americans are. this whole thing with the dixie chicks is all out dumb; i don’t think there is any other word for it, except for perhaps “amazingly retarded”. and what’s even dumber is that the dixie chicks were forced to retract their comments because their good name was besmirched. they were ashamed that the president is from texas? hell, i’m ashamed he’s even considered part of the human race! how someone who called pakistanis “pakis” is the leader of the most powerful nation in the world is beyond my comprehension.
it seems as though the motto of american politics now is “you’re either with us or against us.” this side mentality is exactly what i hate about the collective american mind. maybe i’m not with you or against you. and maybe i just don’t give a flying fuck about you, just like you don’t really give a flying fuck about me. this is what is referred to as the american melting pot, when individuality is jeopardized and george w. bush is suddenly considered a political guru.
i think what is inherently wrong with the whole situation in the US today is that government and society in general are treading on the freedom of speech and opinion on which the country was founded. yes, let’s show how much we love our country by going against the very moral fibre it upholds.
i was watching jay leno’s “jay-walking” the other night — it does a good job showing just how ignorant people are — where several americans were asked simple questions about history regarding the american civil war, WWI, WWII, US presidents, etc.; you wouldn’t believe how little the average american knows about their own country. for pete’s sake, the interviewed americans didn’t even know that the japanese bombed pearl harbor! come on, even that crappy movie with ben asslick wasn’t enough of a history lesson for the average american. they thought george washington fought in WWII and that canadians invaded poland in 1939. american pop culture isn’t even enough to teach these people anything relevant about world politics, because god knows CNN isn’t doing much for that lost cause, either. and like leno said, “this is who american soldiers are fighting for.”
how can these ignorami, with absolutely no essential knowledge of the world around them, feel that they are any sort of authority regarding what is truly right or wrong? i will never trust the political dogma of someone who believes that the pentagon is a building with twenty-four sides.
gosh, i’m foaming at the mouth a tad bit now. ignorant rednecks make me rabid.
