this is just one of those obligatory posts announcing my birthday. it’s not a big deal, really, it’s just my birthday. not that i want to make a fuss about it, even though it’s my birthday, the day i was born and became a member the human race. my birthday coincides with the twelfth day of christmas, otherwise known as “three kings’ day” and “epiphany”, the latter term holding endless irony for me. i’m not at all a religious person, i just like thinking that my birthday is special in one way, at least.
really, though. it’s my birthday and i don’t feel all that much older. this year went by so quickly, i can scarce remember what happened to this missing chunk of my life. since it’s still relatively close to new year’s day, i guess it would be helpful for me to recall some of my personal accomplishments from 2004.
- read the harry potter series for a third time.
- got my hair cut (finally)
- visited my sister in victoria, when the roads were icy and completely unusable and everyone was living in a veritable igloo — typical canadians. wait a minute… “poutine”, “toque”, “a-boot”… hey, i’m canadian!
- watched a bunch of movies that really sucked — and i mean really sucked, as in hoovered-the-white-right-off-of-michael-jackson’s-face “sucked” (e.g. nineteen eighty-four)
- celebrated my two-year anniversary with alan (yeah, that’s your cue to either go “awww!” or puke profusely)
- wrote meanspirited and scathing remarks about my terrible professors on ratemyprofessor.com, constantly forgetting to type the first “r” which results in a rather smutty typographic error if you’re all of ten years old.
- dreamt about going backpacking across europe, but didn’t end up going backpacking across europe
